Hello, my name is Deborah Bennett I am standing to be a Councillor on Harborough District Council. I am asking you to vote for me.
This election is important because the local council is responsible for things that directly affect your quality of life including:
- Planning
- Housing Services
- Community Services
- Business Services
- Flood Prevention and Recovery
- Bins and recycling
If elected I will do everything I can to be available, to listen, to represent your interests and get the best deal for you.
I will work for you
For a Council that Controls Developers
Developers were allowed to delay opening the Airfield link road — even though councillors could have refused it. When developers don’t deliver roads and services on time, new families lose out and the whole town feels the pressure. We deserve councillors who stand up for us.
For a Future Where Our Children and Grandchildren Can Afford a Home
I will use every power the council has to make sure we get more affordable homes for local families. And I will work to make sure the new Renters’ Rights Act is properly enforced here, protecting tenants from unfair rent rises and no-fault evictions.
For a Market Harborough Town Council
I support the call from the local Neighbourhood Forums to create a proper Town Council for Market Harborough. Our town deserves the same democratic voice and access to funding as the places around us. Conservative councillors voted against this—Market Harborough deserves better.
For a Greener, More Sustainable Market Harborough
I will back the brilliant community groups and volunteers who look after our environment, protect our homes, and help bring down energy costs.
Why I’m Standing
A vote for me is a vote for a Fairer, Greener and more Affordable Market Harborough.
My commitment to these values runs through everything I do. As the leader of the first housing association in Market Harborough, I helped deliver affordable homes, improve energy efficiency, and expand community services and youth apprenticeships. I’ve also volunteered on projects supporting young families, the arts, and our local environment.
Now I want to bring that experience and commitment into the council chamber—where I can make real change and help with the issues that matter to you.
